David Payne Constructions has developed a wide variety of commercial and industrial developments across a wide variety of industries. From the Hospitality & Tourism Sectors, Non-for Profits, Community Service providers through to large scale business park developments, our projects range in size and scale from around $1 million to projects in excess of $10 million.

Construction of the State Mitigation Service Support Centre building.
Westbury B&B
Refurbishment of existing Bed and Breakfast with the addition of a Commercial Grade Kitchen to cater for indoor and al-fresco dinning.

Dubbo Golf Club
Re-development of Dubbo Golf Club, Restaurant and function areas

St Vincent de Paul DPC was contracted to carry out numerous tilt panel designed premises for St Vincent de Paul. These included such locations at Lithgow, Parkes, Warren, Bourke, Cobar and Coonamble
Bourke Street Business Park
Construction of five commercial units in Bourke Street Dubbo - Business Park

Project Value $1 - $3 Million

Toll Driver Interchange
Constructions of driver exchange building in Bourke Street Dubbo involving compartmentalised temporary accommodation and parking for truck drivers. The building is brick construction with steel framed roofs and concrete slab. The level of fire separation required for the building added complexity to the construction. A main driveway and turning area for trucks was included in our scope.
Gipps Street Dubbo
This project involved a dilapidated building that needed a complete refurbishment including removal of asbestos, roof structure, internal walls. New steel roof framing was craned into place onto the existing brick walls. New internal wall framing, glazing, doors and internal linings were installed along with new parking facilities at the rear and new awning and access ramps at the front. The building has had a complete face lift externally with rendered and painted walls. This building will house The Dubbo Neighbourhood Centre and Australian Red Cross.

Pickles Auction Dubbo Construction of Auction Shed, Administration offices and wash bay
Vista Lodge Estate, Dubbo  Alterations and Additions of old Hostel. Transformed into multi-function accommodation and event facility.

Transgrid Orange Construction of new Facility including all services, paving, security and demolition of existing building. Works were completed over 3 stages
Essential Energy - Marulan Substation  Construction of Civil and Electrical works for the design, supply and installation of a Prefabricated Substation Control Building 
TWPZ - African Lion Adventure Construction of a 6 Acre African Lion Exhibit and Enclosure in Dubbo NSW.

Taronga Western Plains Zoo
The works commenced works on September, 2009 and were completed by October, 2010. The works consisted of:
  • Re-development of the Savannah building to accommodate retail, ticketing, information, kiosk, cafe, toilets and showers, a function room, bar and commercial kitchen.
  • Refurbishment of the existing Savannah Room
  • Relocation of ticket booths.
  • Improvement and re-arrangement to the layout of the main carpark
  • Landscaping to the lake front terraces, pedestrian boulevard, cycleways
  • Perimeter fencing and gates.
Building facts
  • A total of 276 Contractors were used during the construction
  • 80% of the contractors and suppliers were sourced locally
  • 45 tonnes of structural steel was used
  • 1500m3 of concrete
  • Landscape supplies including - 333m3 of garden mix, 180m3 garden mulch, 180 tonne loam mix, 60m3 compost mix, 66 tonne of crushed granite and 140 tonne granite boulders.  Approximately 17,000 plants of various sizes and species were planted.

Kintyre Stage 2 Construction of 11 2 & 3 Bedrooms Houses of Brick Veneer with Colourbond Roofing and full Landscaping including access roads as part of Kintyre Retirement and Country Living Estate
Barden Athletics Park - Dubbo  Construction of the new grandstand facilities, athletics track, field and associated work at the Barden Park Regional Athletics Centre.

Southern Lachlan Trade Training Centres Round 2 Contract involves construction and refurbishment works at the following Schools-

Canowindra H/S- Refurbishment of existing Hospitality classrooms. Construction and fit out of a new plant propagation shed.
Cowra H/S- Refurbishment of the existing metal workshop. Construction of a new metal workshop classroom and new plant propagation classroom.
Henry Lawson H/S- Refurbishment of existing Hospitality classrooms. Construction of a new metal works shed.
Quandialla C/S- Refurbishment of the existing hospitality classroom.

Project was completed in October 2011

Project Value over $10 MillION

Dubbo Regional Theatre & Convention Centre Construction Commenced on The Dubbo Regional Tiered Theatre in September 2008 for the Dubbo City Council with the building being completed in March 2010. The building consists of a full size 26 metre high flytower with a 500 seat tiered theatre. The building was completed on time,  under budget and to a high quality standard.

Features include
  • Full size fly tower with a complete stage theatre system.
  • 500 seat tiered seating area which incorporates the orchestra pit and state of the art stage lift.
  • 1200m² of change room and technical areas built over two levels.
  • 900m² of Front of house areas incorporating a ticket office and Bar area.
  • Removable stage.
  • Building Management system that controls all Hydraulic, Mechanical and electrical systems.
Building facts
  • The theatre is the only one in Australia to incorporate a full size flytower using steel frame and tilt panel construction.
  • The building foundations are 16 metres below street level with the flytower reaching 26 metres into the skyline.
  • A total of 3000m³ of concrete and 15 km of electrical cabling went into the construction of the theatre.
  • The Theatre achieved a Nil Lost time injury rate(LITFR).
The theatre is the largest most technical project completed by the company to date which continues to receive rave reviews from both the community and people abroad.
