Demolition of Existing offices and construction of new National Parks and Wildlife Administration Offices and Visitors Centre. National Parks & Wildlife Visitors Centre Baradine is an architecturally designed building with the main design intent being the construction of an environmentally friendly building using up to 60% materials being sourced from the local region. The local materials were predominately cypress pine, concrete and landscaping materials. The building is one of the first in the region to use the reverse brick veneer system with the frames externally and brick walls internal. The building is sheeted in cypress pine shiplap cladding and coated with a lanotec oil to slow the weathering process. The building also has a state of the art Mechanical ventilation system and a grey water system feeding the staff and public toilets. David Payne Constructions completed the visitors centre fit-out for Mothers Art Productions a Melbourne based design company within the original contract time frame. The building is in two sections: The Visitors Centre - area which is open to the public. The focal point of this area is the handmade exposed trusses and the 30 iron bark trees supplied by a local resident installed through-out the area. The project was completed and handed over in December 08 two weeks ahead of schedule. |
